The facts about Gum Graft Surgery
What are Gum Grafts?
Gum grafting is a minimally invasive procedure that aims to repair receding gums, bringing back balance and symmetry to your oral aesthetics. During this process, a skilled periodontist or oral surgeon skillfully transfers healthy gum tissue from one area of your mouth to the affected area, covering exposed tooth roots and reinforcing the gum line. This innovative procedure not only enhances the appearance of your smile but also protects your teeth from potential damage caused by gum recession.
Benefits of Gum Grafts
Restore Your Smile: Gum grafts effectively address the cosmetic concerns associated with receding gums. By covering exposed tooth roots, the procedure provides a natural-looking gum line.
Improved Oral Health: Receding gums not only compromise the appearance of your smile but also leave your teeth vulnerable to decay, sensitivity, and even tooth loss. Gum grafts reinforce and protect the exposed roots, reducing the risk of further dental issues.
Enhanced Sensitivity: Do you find yourself wincing when enjoying hot or cold beverages? Gum grafts can alleviate tooth sensitivity caused by receding gums, allowing you to savor your favorite foods and drinks without discomfort.
Long-Term Solution: Gum grafts provide a lasting solution for gum recession. By utilizing your body's natural healing process, the transplanted gum tissue fuses seamlessly with the existing gum line, promoting long-term stability and resilience.
Comfort and Minimal Downtime: Thanks to advancements in dental technology, gum grafting is now a comfortable and minimally invasive procedure.
Methods of Gum Grafts
Various gum graft methods are available to address specific periodontal issues. These include connective tissue, free gingival and pedicle gum grafts.
