Dr. Sarra Jawad
Dr Sarra Jawad is an award winning GDC registered Specialist Restorative Consultant at the prestigious Guys and St Thomas’ hospital. She is a leading expert in the treatment of patients with complicated dental needs including specialising in the treatment of 'periodontitis' (gum disease) and dental implants.
Sarra qualified from King’s College London with an Honours degree and numerous distinctions, having an additional science degree which she also passed with first class honours. She has extensive experience in a wide range of clinical settings, having worked in general practice and in the community dental service where she focussed on managing nervous patients, children and those with special needs.
She then entered the hospital services and subsequently moved to Manchester to train to become a Specialist in Restorative Dentistry. This involves managing highly complex dental cases spanning all fields of dentistry making her an expert in the restoration of gum health (Periodontics), tooth health (Endodontics), full mouth rehabilitations and replacing missing spaces (Prosthodontics) using dental implants, dentures, crowns and bridges.
Sarra did not stop there, she then completed her PhD in 2019 which involved cutting-edge research into the use of mini dental implants to help secure dentures in place.
Sarra currently works part-time as a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS foundation trust where she regularly manages patients with clefts of the lip and palate and those with head and neck cancer. As part of this role, she teaches undergraduate students and trainee specialists. She also teaches across the country, running seminars and hands-on courses for general dentists. In addition, she is a national advisor for restorative dentistry for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and has lectured nationally.
Outside of work, Sarra spends time with her family and 3 beautiful daughters. She enjoys traveling, gardening, going to the theatre and various team sports.
